Installation of new atrium stair case and balustrades At New Motherwell College, North Lanarkshire

 

The former Ravenscraig Steelworks in North Lanarkshire is one of the largest derelict industrial sites in Europe. Measuring approx 1,125 acres in size. Since 1992, and after many years of planning the former Ravenscraig site is currently being ‘regenerated’.

Wilson Bowden Developments Ltd
, Scottish Enterprise and Corus are the three main share holders responsible for the regeneration which will include: New Homes / retail & leisure space/ major park areas / new transport links / new sport facilities / two new schools / new college campus and a hotel.

Glasgow based BDP Architects, were involved in the creation and development of the first major development:

The New Motherwell College, (Highlighted red) which has now been formally opened. Miller Construction were appointed main contractors for the construction phase. Martec Engineering have a long standing working relationship with Miller Construction and were proud to be appointed sub contractors for the project. Martec Engineering worked very closely with the design team to achieve a high standard of architectural metalwork within very tight budgets and timescales.
From detailed design, working with our skilled engineers Martec worked through the details required for the fabrication of the secondary steel work. Our professionalism has been rewarded by being involved in various projects including educational and large scale retail developments. Furthermore Martec has built up our reputation as being one of the best sub contractors in Scotland.
